Does being the oldest child in your family make you a go-getter? In Grace's case, I think so! She's a bubbly girl who is also tenacious when it comes to getting things done and knowing what she wants. She goes nonstop working on the yearbook ads and preparing to go off to college. The day of her shoot it was a perfectly cool fall day, and after hair and makeup we met at our first location to get started.
Grace's family had just begun building their forever home when we were having her shoot, and knowing that these portraits would be finding their forever homes on those walls, she asked me if it would be possible to shoot a portion of the session there. My answer?? Umm, heck yes! It is sentimental touches like these that I just cannot get enough of. Making a portrait that is beautiful is some thing I know I am going to do every session. Talking to my clients and learning that her dad built the dock just a few months ago, and that this lake would soon be the gorgeous view from the family room are things that add so much depth and detail to the image that families truly appreciate.
After her session, we got together at the studio to view Grace's images and work through designing her products. A lot of people ask me why we do this in person. "Wouldn't it be easier to do this on my couch?" Well, for you schedule maybe so, but trying to narrow down images is often quite overwhelming without assistance. When you come into the studio, we can put the images side-by-side and look at them huge so that you can see all the details. As you narrow them down, I am able to sort them into groups so that you can see exactly how many smiles, serious looks, and shots of each outfit you have to be sure there is enough variety. Doing this at home can be hard, especially when you try to get multiple people in the same room at the same time to give their opinions!
Often times, it stresses moms out to have to sit down once by themselves, once with their husband, and once with their senior to see who likes what, then try to compare those notes to come up with the perfect album. When you do it in person with the at the studio, we schedule so that all the decision makers are present, and they all vote at once. All you have to do is put in your vote, and sit back and relax, I'll take care of the rest! Plus, I'll bring snacks so you don't have to worry about rushing out if someone is hungry! ;)
