It was a dreary day, but that didn't stop this fantastic group of people from coming together to celebrate the hard work and companionship developed over the 2014 Garden Project season. The Wine Cellar and Bistro owners Sarah and Craig have worked with CCUA to set up a garden where people can come to plant both seeds and roots in the community. As I listened to the stories of what participants have gained by being a part of the group, it was clear just how much joy this has brought to many. An inspiration to all involved, more than a few people were motivated to begin their own home gardens and urban agriculture sites.
Though the company was wonderful, the food and wine were outstanding! I tried to restrain myself, as I am supposed to be "sweating for the wedding," but I did sample one or two items, and a glass of wine. Deeeee-lish! With the fiddler's playing in the background, this was truly a memorable afternoon. My favorite part was definitely the Garlic Planting. Everyone brought their glass of wine or hot cider out into the garden with a garlic clove or two, and planted them as a group. It was a special moment where the growing season and budding friendships came full circle to celebrate.
