In case you didn't know already, I LOVE my sessions with senior athletes. I get swimmers, baseball players, runners, dancers, basketball players, football players, runners, cheerleaders, you name it, if we have that sport I'll shoot it! One type of senior athlete that it is rare to see in Columbia though? The hockey player! I think the reason for this is that the closest rink is in Jefferson City, so it's not as accessible for Columbia kids. You can understand why when Peyton's mom called and said that she was an ice hockey player, I was ecstatic! What a fun new challenge this would be! We talked about everything she should bring to the session, from sticks to skates, to pads, and what to expect. I spent a few weeks before her shoot brainstorming ideas for poses and coming up with the perfect game plan for her shoot.
The day of the shoot came and Peyton showed up from hair and makeup all long hair and gorgeous smile and I was like holy moly this shoot is about to be insane! Between her hockey shoot, downtown, and shooting with her sweet pup at the park, I learned that this beauty is a tough as nails athlete and a sweet as pie dog lover who can handle anything that comes her way! She left the day after her session to rejoin her team for the year, but I am so happy that we got the chance to do these portraits before she left!
Just because we don't have an ice rink here in Columbia doesn't mean we can't create something amazing for your senior pictures! If you have a sport or hobby that seems "too hard" or "too weird" to incorporate into your senior portraits let's talk! Anything is possible, and I am always up for a challenge!
