Alex is one of this year's senior models, and I am so pumped to have her on the team! She's active in dance and track, and we actually met when I was doing her dance team's portraits. Needless to say, she was a girl I knew HAD to be a senior model. That curly hair immediately told me she would be perfect for this Little Red Riding Hood shoot I'd been planning for weeks. Not a lot of ladies can pull off red eyeshadow and lipstick, but this one did! Kaylee did an excellent job matching the makeup to this bright red cape I found, and we left Alex's hair natural because YOU DON'T MESS WITH PERFECTION.
Alex describes herself as "funky, cool, very different, unique, funny, fun to be around, the person you want to take to have a good time." Well, she's right. Her shoot was the best time, even when we smothered her in smoke to get some really dramatic images. You have to be a real trooper for a shoot like this, and she totally was! This was the first shoot where I incorporated smoke in real-life, and yes there were a few hiccups. For example, I thought we were good to go in this forest location and the shelter of the trees would help keep the smoke controlled. WRONG. Everything was fine for about 30 seconds, after which the wind stirred the smoke into such a cloud that I was running back and forth trying to get a good view in which to focus a shot. Talk about an "Oh sh*!" moment. But, we did it, and that's what counts. And I mean, the images are killer. #worthit
