Rain. Misting, drizzling, foggy rain. That's how it was the original day we scheduled for Emily's shoot. When it was clear that it wasn't going to work, we went ahead and rescheduled. Luckily, the new shoot day was much better! A little cool, but that never stops us, and Emily is a softball player, so she's used to being out in cooler weather and was fine with it.
We went straight downtown and started her photography session with some edgy alleys and architecture to compliment her fun style. Overalls have made a comeback, and I'm not mad about it. There are some trends that should be avoided for senior portraits, but overalls aren't one of them! Of course, with a gorgeous model like Emily what wouldn't look awesome on her?! She paired them with the cutest little red boots for a sweet and sassy look that paired perfectly with her personality.
I originally met this amazing family when I shot Emily's older sister Kira's senior portraits. We both have roots in a small hometown, and instantly bonded over it. Yes, most people think Columbia is a smaller town, but compared to ours (population approx 2,000) it is a metropolis! When I came here for college I was terrified to drive anywhere that wasn't on my daily route to and from school. Don't get me started on parking. It's funny how something that once seemed so big and daunting, now seems like a big small town. Now I run into friends at the gym, the grocery store, you name it. For all of you seniors taking the plunge to a new city (big or small) and feeling overwhelmed, don't worry. A few months from moving in you'll be amazing how acclimated you can be. Go for it, you've got this!
