If you are a parent of your first senior, or you are the first senior in your family, your are probably wondering when the right time is to schedule your portraits. Between college visits, last dances, and games it can be hard to put it at the top of your list. To help you overcome this I've put together a 4 point checklist to find the perfect time!
1. When is your ideal portrait session?
Love the heat and having a golden tan? ---- Summer is for you.
Sweaters and boots are your spirit animal? ---- Fall it is.
Floral prints and flowy dresses make you swoon? ---- Spring will be perfect!
2. What is the decor like in your home?
You'll be hanging these images there, so it is only natural to consider what they will look like. If your home is filled with warm natural colors, fall might be a perfect fit. Bright colors pair well with spring and summer shoots!
3. Take activities and hobbies into consideration.
If you or your senior are involved in sports, hunting, or any extracurricular activity that they have a uniform for, the session should be scheduled during that season. Right now it is summer, so football players and softball players generally are getting ready to have access to their uniforms. You'll also have games, practices, and so many other obligations coming at you this year, which will make scheduling harder than you think. Keep this in mind so that you don't end up without those awesome shots you want!
4. Don't forget that sessions book IN ADVANCE.
Make sure you get to work with the perfect photographer by getting in touch EARLY. My sessions schedule 2-3 months in advance, with a random opening here or there. That means that right now I am booking summer sessions AND fall sessions. Only 35 seniors are being accepted for the Class of 2018, which means they are going to be gone before you know it. Do NOT wait to get on the books.
So now you know that there is more to scheduling your senior session than just sending a text the week before. CLICK HERE to get in touch and chat about dates and details!
